Why Study Magazine Media at Drake

Award-winning publications

Drake University students have the opportunity to work on award-winning publications. Urban Plains won a 2014 Pacemaker from the Associated Collegiate Press and Drake Magazine won best website in the College Media Association’s Pinnacle Awards.

Apprenticeship program

The Meredith Apprenticeship Program gives magazine majors both academic credit and professional work experience. Meredith Corp. offers five editorial positions for magazine majors and three design positions for graphic design majors.

New York City Trip

Each spring a group of junior and senior magazine majors travels to New York City for a two-day whirlwind tour of publishing offices. Office on the star-studded schedule include: Babble, Daily Candy, Glamour, Fast Company, Vogue, Self, Esquire, and Men’s Journal.
