Circumstances keep the young couple apart but, very much in love, they plan their lives together in letters.

Julia will attend nursing school, and Douglas, the U.S Air Force Academy. After graduation they will marry and live happily ever after. A white picket fence. Two kids. Two cats. The American Dream. But the dream cracks when Julia learned that Douglas is being sent to Vietnam just months before their wedding. Then it completely shatters when she hears the words Douglas has been killed. In spite of her loss, Julia remains devoted to Douglas, moving to the home they planned to share together, still writing letters, telling him about her life and her plans.

It all changes when Ian, a friend of Julias cousin, whom she had met on an earlier trip across the pond, arrives from London. He is charming and fun and very much in love with Julia. She quickly finds herself falling for this handsome Englishman. But will her continued devotion to Douglas, and her commitment to honor him and their love by writing their story even as she plans her wedding to Ian, shatter her chance at marital bliss with Ian? The novel, Dear Douglas, is a story about a young, and beautiful nurse, a dashing Air Force pilot and a charming Englishman.

It is a story about love, faith, and family, giving the reader a glimpse of family life in the late 60s and the early 70s. Readers will fall in love with Julias sweet but goofy nature, and will find some of the antics of Nique, Lique, Tricia and Dona, her fellow nursing school friends, too funny to be true.

Julias parents, who are devout Catholics, and her five brothers and sisters, Paul, Philip, Paige, Penelope, and Patrick Henry, nicknamed Hank, all add a bit of spice to the story.
